Application Setup

  1. OS/2 System

Once the LAN is functioning correctly, the only additional requirement is to make sure the partition (drive) containing the working directory for your images is shareable. The following procedure shows you how to do this:

    1. If you are currently logged on to the LAN under any user-level userid's (including Guest), then log off.

    2. Logon to the network using the Administrator userid and password.

    3. Open the Connections, Network, and Network Services folders. (Each is successively included in the other.)

    4. Double-left-click on the "Shared Resources and Network Connections" object.

    5. Click on "Shares" tab.

    6. See if the desired drive is already in the list, and is listed as "Started".

      1. If the desired drive is listed, but not flagged as "Started", then highlight it, and click on the "Delete" button. Wait a few seconds for the list to refresh.

    7. Click on "Create Share" button.

    8. Enter the letter of the desired drive followed by a colon but without a backslash in the directory field.

    9. Click on "OK".

    10. I highly recommend you enter a descriptive name in the "Description" field, but you may leave it blank if you wish.

    11. Click on "Manage Access".

    12. Select the "Read/Write Access" radio button.

    13. Click on "OK".

    14. A window will pop up saying the access permissions have been created. Click on "OK".

    15. Another access window will appear. Unless you have specific reason to modify it, click on "OK".

    16. You are done. Click on the close-window icon.

Everything is now in place on your OS/2 system for the Windows program to both read and create images on your OS/2 computer.
